This is *the* combo cookset to have in the kitchen. Not only is it made in U.S.A., but the quality outstrips the Le Creuset enameled combo which cost four times as much. I wish I had purchased this Lodge set first. It only took three years for the finish and interior surface of the Le Creuset set to degrade, but the Lodge cast iron was not only good to go out of the box (well seasoned!), but will last infinitely longer. I will have this set until I can no longer cook for myself.

Now about this combo: The cast iron 'deep fryer' is not only for deep frying. With the tight-fitting skillet lid, you can not only make a decent chicken biryani, but can bake, roast, stew, or simmer a batch of marinara. Of all the tools in my kitchen, this combo set gets used the most.

And if i only had one cookset, this would be the one.

This same piece is available at the local stores for , but I got mine from Amazon. I am glad I did not spend the extra for the Tom Douglas name. This is an Amazon ploy to get more money, because the set is the EXACT same as the Lodge Logic set. Same box...five bucks cheaper. I completed a survey somewhere online and received a amazon gift certificate. I ended up paying for my set and I LOVE IT! Hope you'll get yours!

I just received my cast iron deep fryer and have not had a chance to use it. However, I am very happy with the appearance of it. It is heavy duty but light enough for practical use. I like the multifunction of having the skillet and the deep fryer. The cast iron is ready to use and does not have any rust on it. It is worth the price and would make a great gift for anyone interested in this type of cooking.
