Heuck deserves lauding praises not only for the very affordable price at which amazon lists this skillet, but also for the impeccable attention to detail in their manufacture of their proven cookware. Heuck stands up to the same quality, or is, as in this case, better than Le Creuset, Calphalon, etc. Enamel Cast Iron products have been around since the Industrial Revolution because of their wide versatility ("from the fire, to the fridge, to the freezer, and back to the fire"), extremely durability, and for being such a pleasure to use. Its porcelain enamel surface is inert - does not react chemically with any food, nor at any temperature. This skillet proves its worthiness with sautéing, frying, making stews and soups, brazing or slow roasting large cuts of meat, and even for baking such goodies as cornbread and coffee cake. Product ships with instructions on how best to clean and care for skillet and its different surfaces. However, it is further recommended that, if there are cooked-on food stains and particles, let soak for at least an hour in warm water, and hand clean this product with only the mildest dishwashing liquid and dishcloth or mildly abrasive sponge, but NOT in the dishwasher. The heat/water cycles of the appliance tend to eventually wear the shine of the enamel, making it opaque and diminishing the enamel's heat retention. As with any heavy cookware, such as Pyrex (another excellent product), one must also take care not to chip or break the porcelain enamel coating on the cast iron. This color choice is a deep Persian blue (not cobalt on the exterior), and is very beautiful with ivory white in the interior. You will receive many years of great use and pleasure of this product. It does fry very well, but we are a chicken frying family, which means we fry about once a week. Unfortunately, small cracks have developed in the bottom of the fryer making me a little nervous that it will chip off into the food. However, this company has like a 50 year warranty so, we are covered.

Wanted to give it no stars but that wasn't an option...I purchased one...worked great and quietly for about 6 months...it died...they replaced it for about 1/2 the cost...that one died after about 3 months. Tried a third time...it died...I learned my lesson! It's not worth the money or hassle.

There's a lot to love and little to hate about the Windchaser Mini Dehumidifier.

PROS
-small
-quiet
-low operating temperature (about 79F)
-low power consumption (the Peltier element should be used more by other products!)
-great customer support
-easy to repair

CONS
-seasonal maintenance - it will "break"
-small reservoir
-with no option to continually drain (e.g. into a... floor drain!)

When these things "break" it's just a matter of removing a few screws and some tape to get to the fan's bearing cover. Remove that, add some oil and reassemble. It's annoying, but these things are otherwise great. If you have problems, Windchaser customer support is pretty good. They're not the fastest to respond and their site/interface with the customer could be better, but they're very friendly and the end results of the user/company interaction is as desired: happiness!

If you need dry air in smallish areas, these things rock. Their features (PROS) are top notch and nobody else offers them.

I own two of this model and one of a slightly larger model.

This unit works well in a small confined area, such as under a stariwell or a closet. The dehumidifyer ran for almost a year before I needed to re-oil the unit as has been previously mentioned. The fix is so easy, it should be included in the product manual. The reservoir is small and it is easy to forget about it when it is running. Another fix that has been mentioned is drilling a hole in the removable reservoir and gluing a line in so that it can drain into a larger container or even into a drain. I did this and now the dehumidifyer sits on a 5 gallon bucket. I figure by the time it fills the bucket I need to 'check the oil' anyway. The dehumidifyer is efficient enough that when it is damp it can fill in as little as two to three days.
